Nigeria offer African Nations bonuses

November 21, 2012

The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) have offered the national team a bonus of $90,000 each if they win next year's African Cup of Nations.

NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire confirmed that players will get $10,000 for each win in the group stage, plus another $15,000 for winning in the quarter-finals, $20,000 for the semi-finals and $25,000 for the final.

''It is to motivate the players to make Nigeria proud," NFF secretary general Musa Adamu said.

Adamu declined to say how the body would source the funds, however.

Nigeria, two-time African Cup of Nations champions, failed to qualify for the 2012 tournament despite boasting a squad including the likes of Ikechukwu Uche, Joel Obi, Peter Odemwingie, Emmanuel Emenike, Taye Taiwo and Chinedu Obasi.
