Manchester City snatched Real Madrid kid Jose Pozo for €3 million

José Ángel Pozo is the 16-year-old Malaga-born forward who last season was one of Real Madrid's most promising youngsters. Today however he belongs to Manchester City due to a lack of opportunities to shine for 'Los Merengues' and City's ability to write a cheque for €3 million.

City could have taken Pozo for nothing as he had not yet reached his 16th birthday, but they instead agreed the fee that is huge for a player of his age.

All parties involved, including both clubs, signed a confidentiality agreement to not talk about the transfer and Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez took part in negotiations and met with the player.

The Manchester side has bought a youngster with a big future and he has already trained with the first team on a number of occasions alongside players like Sergio Agüero, David Silva and Carlos Tevez.

He has done so with the number 55 shirt, and despite being young enough to still play at under 16 level, he has switched between the second team and the under 18's and played regularly in a side that is competing in the Next Gen Series, a youth tournament based on the Champions League. Recently he scored against Juventus in that competition and he has grabbed 5 goals in total.

"I feel as if I'm growing and getting stronger all the time, they have welcomed me here but you can see that the football is more direct. We normally train in the mornings and then eat together", Pozo told the Spanish Football Federation's website.
