Kaka hopes to play in MLS one day

November 16, 2012

Kaka has revealed he is interested in a potential move to the MLS in the future, with New York Red Bulls rumoured to be the team chasing him the hardest.

The American side suffered a disappointing early play-off exit, but the prospect of having a Brazil international star in their squad could give their players a morale boost.

After Brazil's 1-1 draw against Colombia - which was held on US soil - the Real Madrid midfielder admitted a move to New York, or any other team in the league, is not out of the question.

"Not now, I think. One day, I hope I can play in MLS," Kaka stated. "I don't think it's now [though]."

Reports have linked Kaka, 30, with a move to New York after the 2014 World Cup has finished, which is being hosted by the Selecao.

Though the former Ballon d’Or winner has struggled since his transfer to Real Madrid, his overall career statistics in Europe are impressive. He has scored 120 goals and dished out 76 assists in 370 appearances.

Kaka has seen first-hand Brazil's drawing power in New Jersey as at least half of the 40,000 supporters in attendance on Wednesday evening were rooting for the Selecao.

"[The crowds were] very nice. I love to play here," the ex-AC Milan star said. "It's nice to play in America."

The fact that Kaka’s younger brother, Digao, joined the club this summer has helped fuel transfer speculation, and, although Kaka did not mention his brother, he did say that he was impressed by the quality of US football.

"I like it. I have some friends that are playing now here so they say a lot of good stuff about the MLS," Kaka stated. "One day I hope I can play here."
