Godin: Messi and Falcao one step ahead of Ronaldo

Atlético Madrid centre-back Diego Godín has revealed he would love to be able to vote in the FIFA Ballon d'Or awards, and would cast his first vote for team-mate Radamel Falcao, followed by Leo Messi, two players who, in his opinion, are "a step ahead" of Cristiano Ronaldo.

"If we compare Cristiano with Messi and Falcao, I think he is the most predictable player of the three," Godín said in an interview with FIFA.com. "His game is more based on strength and power. He has a great shot and is good in the air but right now I think Messi and Falcao are on form and are one step ahead of him."

"I would vote for Falcao, because he is my team-mate and I really respect him. He's got onto that list of 23 players, which is very difficult to do, and he has got there on his own merits.

"What's more, it is thanks to him that we've been able to so much at Atlético Madrid," he continued.

"After him, Messi is the obvious favourite. Without a doubt he has the best qualities of any footballer. No-one on the list has the same footballing qualities as Messi, no-one. "So, if I could vote, I'd vote for Falcao and Messi."

"Messi has been the best in the world in the past six years, and everyone can see that every weekend. He has qualities that make him stand out from the rest."
