Del Bosque: Brazil favourites to win Confederations Cup

December 01, 2012

This Friday, Spain's coach, Vicente Del Bosque, confirmed from Sao Paulo that Brazil would be the "team to beat" at the 2013 Confederations Cup, and assured that Spain would have its strongest team available for the tournament which brings continental champions together.

"Brazil is a world power in football and will be playing at home. Because of the players Brazil has, because of its footballing history and because of what the team is now, Brazil is the team to beat", Del Bosque said before the draw for the Confederations Cup.

Del Bosque underlined how important the competition is for Spain, who finished third in the last Confederations Cup that was held in South Africa. "We were left with a bitter taste in our mouths after South Africa, and after success at the European Championships and World Cup it's a challenge for us. We're preparing ourselves to be competitive and to respect this tournament of champions", he pointed out.

The manager confirmed that his team would include Spain's top players. "We treat every game with respect, whether it's an official game or a friendly, and apart from very rare occasions, turn up with our best players. The Confederations Cup is a very important competition and that's why we'll go with the best we've got", he went on.

On the subject of Spain's rich recent form, Del Bosque said: "We've seen all this success because we've been doing things right". He highlighted the importance of some young players moving to other strong leagues, like the English league, and in his opinion that's one of the reasons for the "resurgence of a generation of players".
