The Athletic de Bilbao manager assured that he wouldn't "resort to blackmail" to achieve a "sincere and legitimate" objective like convincing Llorente to stay with Bilbao.
This was what the Argentine said when he was asked about the report from the International Federation of Professional Footballers (FIFPro), which mentioned Bilbao and Llorente as an example of how some clubs put pressure on players to get them to renew their contracts.
Bielsa assured that he would feel "very satisfied" if he "could do something" to make Llorente stay with the club for "the next few years", but never by resorting to "blackmail".
"When you get involved in blackmail you always have previous. You don't just become a blackmailer overnight and I don't remember ever being involved in anything like that. I don't think Athletic Bilbao has form for that type of activity either, or that it is involved in it now", he explained. "In any case, we still haven't heard Fernando's story, because there's nobody better than the victim to confirm a case of blackmail", he concluded.
