The row between the Cameroon players Samuel Eto'o and Alex Song has bubbled back to the surface after the striker, now on the books of Russian club Anzhi, singularly failed to hold back when asked about the reported bad blood between two of the country's star names: "There is no conflict between stars to speak of, because I'm one of the best players in the world and Song isn't even among the best in Cameroon".
Eto'o's rant on French satellite channel 'Canal Plus' fanned the flames of a dispute that seemed to have been put to bed recently when the pair met at a hotel to resolve their differences.
Clear-the-air talks took place in Yaoundé, Cameroon, ahead of the country's crunch play-off against Cape Verde, with a place at the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations at stake. However, fresh off Cameroon's failure to qualify for the tournament, the issue shows no sign of abating.
Indeed, the row, which goes back a long away and centres around a power struggle within the national side, seems to have flared up again following Eto'o's explosive remarks.
The issue previously came to a head during the World Cup in South Africa, leading two camps to form within the dressing room, with players siding with or against Eto'o and Song. On that occasion, the Cameroon Football Federation was forced to step in and duly fined Song €1,500.
