The game against Deportivo could go down in Messi's history books. Several sources report that the Argentine has the date of 20th October marked on his calendar as the day his first child, Thiago, will enter into the world.
Messi himself has confirmed that his family and that of Antonella are on their way to Barcelona for the occasion. That could be one of the reasons Vilanova may rest him this Saturday.
The other reason Messi could be left out of the starting line up would be the game he played against Chile last Wednesday and the long journey he had, added to the habitual jet-lag. It is not outside the realms of possibility, as the same happened after the last national team league break.
'La Pulga' (The Flea), as he is affectionately known, comes to the match on a run, having recovered his goal-scoring form and after scoring three goals with Argentina, added to which are the two he scored against Real Madrid.
