Bayern Munich's chairman Uli Hoeness: Robben will stay on forever

October 20, 2012

Bayern Munich chairman Uli Hoeness believes Holland international winger Arjen Robben will end his playing days at the Allianz Arena.

The Dutchman has been restricted to playing just three of Bayern's first seven Bundesliga games this season due to minor injuries but Hoeness rates him as an important member of the squad.

Robben has scored 40 goals in his 65 league appearances for Bayern after joining from Real Madrid three years ago.

The former Chelsea man played a key role in their 2009-10 UEFA Champions League campaign as they finished runners-up behind Inter Milan.

He was linked with a return to the Premier League earlier this year but, after signing a new deal to keep him in Munich until June 2015, Hoeness feels the 28-year-old will stay there until he retires.

He told Munich-based newspaper Abendzeitung: "Arjen Robben is one of the best professionals we have ever had at Bayern Munich. And that's why he will stay on forever.

"Arjen Robben has done incredible things for this club. He has won us matches like the 2010 UEFA Champions League quarter-final and semi-final. He won us those matches on his own!"
