Falcao's outstanding season is equating to both goals galore and a never-ending stream of rumour regarding his future. Whether it's Chelsea, or City, or Madrid. The fact remains that the Colombian is under contract and belongs to Atlético.
A direct consequence of Falcao's name being constantly linked with other clubs is the naming of his potential replacements, strikers that Atlético might be sounding out or at least scouting, in case its star striker decides to seek out a new challenge next season.
One of the players being linked to Atlético de Madrid is an old face from La Liga. Klaas Jan Huntelaar, who currently plays his football at Schalke, has been linked with Atlético by sources in Germany and Italy. The Dutchman, who ended last season as the Bundesliga's top goalscorer is out of contract with his club next June and could join Atlético on a free transfer.
Atlético hasn't ruled out the move, but sources at the club confirm there's been no contact with anyone. The main stumbling block would be the player's salary, which is around the €5m mark. It seems unlikely that the Schalke forward will lower his salary demands, especially when you consider the transfer fee.
