Manchester United plan to take advantage of Bosman rule to sign Spanish international Fernando Llorente from Athletic Bilbao for free. The towering forward has only 1 year left in his current contract with La Liga side but yet to put his pen on a new contract and will be free to contact with any team in January. Manchester United hope their offer of a £140k-a-week contract could lure the hit-man to Old Trafford.
The 27-year-old, who scored 29 goals for Basque outfit last season, has been linked with host of top European clubs in recent transfer windows but none has officially made an offer because of Bilbao's £35 million asking price.
