Mancini expects difficult Reading encounter

December 22, 2012

Roberto Mancini says there will be no complacency from Manchester City when they take on struggling Reading on Saturday.

The Royals visit the Etihad Stadium looking for only their second win of the season while City seek to keep up the pressure on United in the race for the Premier League title.

They bounced back to form with a 3-1 win over Newcastle last weekend and Mancini is looking for more of the same.

"We're playing against a team like Reading with only nine points and people say they will be relegated, but it will be a difficult game," Mancini said.

"I watched them against Everton - when they beat Everton - and against United when they lost 4-3.

"Up front they are very strong. Maybe they concede goals but we need to play like against Newcastle if we want to win the game.

"Newcastle is usually difficult. After our performance against United I was sure we would play a good game against Newcastle. I didn't know if we could win or not but I think we played very well."

Mancini also plans to give his players as much rest as possible over Christmas and New Year, adding:

"When you play every three days it's impossible to play with the same players and you need to rotate."
